![]() Hops are also nice (for brewing), but I wouldn't call it '100% necessary' at the beginning.Ĥ) Happiness is paramount to the success of your colony. Note though that you need a colonist with a growing skill of 8+, so if you don't have this you first have to level that skill. You have no other means of producing medicine, but you'll be needing a lot, so this plant is great to have. Alternatively you can research and grow devilstrand, but that takes ages to grow, so not very good for starting out. This allows you to make clothing, which is very useful (people get unhappy from being naked, and also cold is not nice). ![]() However, if you click on 'manual priorities' you can actually finetune the priorities of your colonists, which is super useful to make your colony more efficient.ģ) At the beginning, you might be inclined to only grow some food plants to provide for your colony, but there are two plants that I also definitely recommend. You can also see the skill level by means of the greyscale (white = high skill), and see small depictions of the passion-flames. At first you can see which tasks are allowed and disallowed per colonist. If someone has a level of 6 but no passion, it might be better to give the task to someone with a skill of 4 with a burning passion, as they'll learn much faster.Ģ) The work-tab has some functions that might not be immediately apparent. Therefore, when you're dividing tasks, don't only look at the skill level, but also at passions. This means that a character is interested or passionate about those tasks, meaning that they learn much faster. ![]() When you click on a character and show its stats, you will see smaller and bigger flames. Hope it's useful to at least a few people! :)ġ) Be aware of what passions mean and what they can do for you. I'm aware that not everyone likes watching videos, so I also made a written version below. Therefore, I made a video containing 10 tips for new players, to hopefully help you get to grips with the game. However, like many of these games, there are quite some things that might not be immediately apparent. Rimworld is one of my favourite colony sims, quite similar to Dwarf Fortress (which is high praise from me!).
